In the spring of 2015, Het Firmament, Kunstenpunt and PACKED vzw took the initiative to make an inventory of the audiovisual and digital archives in the performing arts sector. We found 31,047 carriers that could be considered for digitisation.

== Probleemstelling ==
In de lente van 2015 namen Het Firmament, Kunstenpunt en PACKED vzw het initiatief om een inventaris te maken van de audiovisuele en digitale archieven in de podiumkunstensector. [[Meemoo, Vlaams instituut voor het archief|VIAA]] heeft in de loop van 2016 ingestemd om dat geïnventariseerde materiaal te digitaliseren.<ref>Voor meer info, zie http://viaa.be/nl/nieuws/bedreigd-audiovisueel-materiaal-uit-de-podiumkunsten-gered/</ref> Eind november 2016 hadden reeds 40 podiumkunstenorganisaties zich als content partner aangesloten bij VIAA en ingetekend voor de digitalisering van hun audiovisueel materiaal. Een groot aantal van hen zijn ter voorbereiding van de digitalisering reeds gestart met de registratie van de dragers in het AMS-systeem van VIAA. Omdat we vermoedden dat een deel van het filmmateriaal is aangetast door het azijnsyndroom, hebben Het Firmament en PACKED vzw het afgelopen jaar het geïnventariseerde filmmateriaal verder onderzocht.

We found 31,047 carriers that could be considered for digitisation.

In 2016, VIAA agreed to digitise the inventoried materials.For more info, see https://viaa.be/en/news/bedreigd-audiovisueel-materiaal-uit-de-podiumkunsten-gered/ By the end of November 2016, 40 performing arts organisations had become VIAA content partners and signed up to have their audiovisual content digitised.For more info, see https://viaa.be/en/news/viaa-start-met-digitaliseren-opnames-uit-de-podiumkunsten A lot of them had even started registering their carriers in VIAA’s AMS system in preparation for digitisation. We suspected that some of the film content was affected by vinegar syndrome, so Het Firmament and PACKED vzw spent a year investigating the inventoried film content in more detail.
