Het is belangrijk dat je de rechten op werken in je archief en collectie(s) klaart wanneer je ze publiek toegankelijk wilt maken of (her)gebruiken.
Het klaren van rechten betekent dat je vaststelt of er al dan niet auteursrechten rusten op een bepaald werk en de toestemming van de rechthebbende of zijn vertegenwoordiger krijgt om je archief en/of collectie(s) juridisch correct te hergebruiken.
Deze checklist overloopt alle stappen voor het klaren van rechten die op bepaalde stukken in je archief kunnen rusten. Het begrip auteur wordt hier generiek gebruikt en verwijst naar alle vormen van creaties waarop auteursrechten rusten.
